We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Architect who must define the future technical architecture en infrastructure for the client Blueprint 3.0. The role must be filled with a freelancer who will commit himself to the end of the contract, even if the contract lasts longer then the date that I will mention below.
Startdate: A.s.a.p.

Enddate: 31/12/09 (expected to go on until midd second Quarter 2010)


General knowledge (required):

- Basic knowledge insurances

- Position is more strategic than indebt technical – Mission is to define the future architecture of the mainframe and X86 platform.

- Candidate must be Certified Technical Archtitect

- CMMi, LEAN

- Thorough knowledge of the various chains within the IT organisation of an insurance company.


Purpose of the function

Defines and maintains, based upon (business) requirements, information technology and communication technology (ICT) vision, strategy, architecture and migration (roadmaps) to achieve an efficient, reliable and future proof ICT Infrastructure and to achieve an efficient, effective, reliable and future proof application (including interfaces) architecture. Performs the role of project or programme manager of cross-label international Architectural projects or programmes or of strategic/complex initiatives.

The job exists within several departments and business lines.


Reports to

Senior management through international functional (business) lines and on regional platforms and/or to project or programm steering committees (task forces). Reports in line to the departemental manager.


Key Responsibilities

Defines and maintains vision, strategy and migration (roadmaps) for the total global business unit, and for the integration of different labels within the business unit.
Indicates, from a technical expertise, possibilities for drawing up information plans, information systems and architectures.
Is responsible for the technical coherence of systems, promotes and guards the mutual consistency and integrity.
Is well informed about the latest (international) trends in ICT. Follows the latest market and product developments. Stimulates co-operation within the business line.
Prepares decision-making within the environment, defines policies and is the liaison to third parties for strategic developments in infrastructure, network and computer supplies, platforms and applications. Investigates third parties on quality, reliability, reputation and solvency.
Liaises with business management, users and all IT resources in order to understand ones needs and wishes and to translate these into specific action plans. Agrees as a programme manager with the sponsor all terms of the programme and ensures subsequent delivery of planned results against the agreed time, quality, budget constraints and organisational changes.
Is in contact with architects of other business units within the company and with architects outside the company regarding the ICT development and exploitation strategy and policies, regarding IT plans and regarding the use of infrastructure and application components.
Advises IT managers on application development, maintenance and support processes, on project management methods and on policies on architecture, quality assurance and methods, techniques and tools.
Is highly involved in the business unit annual MTP process on IT architecture issues. Analyses and reports (in) consistencies between architectures, roadmaps, MTP’s and individual projects and programmes.
Has a joint responsibility (together with IT management) for implementing CMM (Capability Maturity Model) and ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) on the desired level. Advises IT departments on continuous (measurable) improvement of the quality of IT services and products (process improvement).
Supports and advises management of the business unit in complex and heavy investigations.

Management

Performs the role of project or programme manager of cross-label international Architectural projects or programmes or of strategic/complex initiatives (maximum staff 14).


Additional information

Projects are defined as multi-disciplinary (COPAFIT, etc.) activities that deliver specified results to contribute to sponsor’s objectives under constraints of time, quality and money.


FTE: 0.9 / 1 (36 or 40 hours per week)
